Where you can go / Nuevo Vallarta

Quiet enough
to actually rest.

A planned resort area on Banderas Bay, just north of the Jalisco state line. Flat, walkable in parts, and built around a marina, which makes it unusually easy to move around on a day when you do not feel like moving much.

Our preferred partners

ClinicCity-Médica

Clínica Médica Integral on the Puerto Vallarta - Tepic highway, with its own reception, treatment rooms, and infusion lounge. Medical director Dr. Essaú Gutiérrez is a stem cell specialist, and is the physician most of our Nuevo Vallarta clients meet first.

Orthopedic, athlete care, IV infusions, and alternative enquiries. Not beauty.

Listed because we work with them directly. We may receive a fee for referrals to partners, which never changes what you pay.

What the days look like

The bay is the whole point. Mornings are calm and the water is usually flat enough for a slow swim; afternoons get warm, which is when most people retreat indoors. If your schedule includes recovery days, this is a place where doing very little is easy and does not feel like a wasted trip.

Eating

The marina and the resort strip cover most needs, from casual seafood to the hotel dining rooms. Nearby Bucerías and La Cruz de Huanacaxtle are a short drive and are where you go for something less resort-shaped. If your physician has given you dietary instructions, tell your coordinator before you travel and we will flag places that can accommodate them.

Staying

Mostly large resorts and condominium rentals, many with kitchens, worth considering if you would rather not eat out every meal while recovering. Ground-floor or elevator access is worth asking about specifically if mobility is part of why you are travelling.

Spas and slower days

Most of the larger properties have a spa on site, which is the simplest option when you do not want to travel far. Ask your physician what is appropriate before booking any treatment, particularly heat, pressure, or water immersion. Some are fine and some are not, and that call is theirs, not ours.

If you have a spare day

Puerto Vallarta's old town is about 30–40 minutes south and makes an easy half-day: the malecón, the church, and the galleries. Sayulita, north along the coast, is livelier and smaller. Both are optional. Nothing here requires you to fill your calendar.

Travel guidance only. Anything touching your treatment or recovery, including which activities and spa treatments are appropriate, and when is a decision for your treating physician.
