Where you can go / Guadalajara

A real city,
with everything in it.

Mexico's second city and the capital of Jalisco. If the idea of a resort makes you restless, this is the alternative: proper restaurants, hospitals, pharmacies, and services all within a short drive, and plenty to do when you feel like doing something.

Our preferred partners

ClinicM.E. Health

Medicina estética y regenerativa in Colonia Chapalita, led by Dra. Marianela Guadalupe Villa Morales. Its own reception and medical consulting room, with separate rooms for facial, body, and hair treatments around a planted courtyard.

Covers every area we coordinate. Aesthetic care is offered here and not in Nuevo Vallarta, so if aesthetics are part of your journey, Guadalajara is the place to visit.

Listed because we work with them directly. We may receive a fee for referrals to partners, which never changes what you pay.

Where people stay

Most visitors base themselves west of the historic centre. The Providencia, Chapultepec, and Zapopan areas, which are quieter, greener, and closer to most private medical facilities than the old town is. The centre is worth visiting; it is not necessarily where you want to sleep while recovering.

Eating

Guadalajara takes its food seriously and the range is genuinely wide, from long lunches to places that will feed you well at 10pm. Around Chapultepec you can eat properly without planning ahead. As in Nuevo Vallarta, pass any dietary restrictions to your coordinator in advance.

Spas and slower days

The larger hotels have spa facilities, and there are day spas throughout the western districts. The same caution applies: ask your physician which treatments are appropriate for you and when, especially anything involving heat, pressure, or immersion.

If you have a spare day

Tlaquepaque and Tonalá, both within the metropolitan area, are the traditional craft districts and make a gentle half-day. The historic centre has the cathedral, the Hospicio Cabañas, and the market. The tequila-producing country west of the city is a longer excursion: enjoyable, but a full day, and worth checking against your treatment schedule first.

Practical notes

The city sits at around 1,560 metres. Most people notice nothing, but if you arrive from sea level you may find the first day tires you faster than expected, worth accounting for when you plan your arrival relative to any appointment.

Travel guidance only. Anything touching your treatment or recovery, including which activities and spa treatments are appropriate, and when is a decision for your treating physician.
